It was announced today that Tippett Studio received a Visual Effects Society Award nomination in the “Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture” category for its work on Kitty Galore for Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. This is the fourth nomination Tippett Studio has received in the Animated Character category of the VES Awards. Previous nominations were for Hellboy (Sammael), Charlotte’s Web (Templeton), Enchanted (Pip), and The Spiderwick Chronicles (Hogsqueal). Tippett has also been recognized for Outstanding Visual Effects with nominations for Cloverfield (2008) and Charlotte’s Web (2006).

Animation Supervisor William Groebe, Animation Lead Brian Mendenhall, CG Supervisor Aharon Bourland, and Lighting Supervisor Steve Reding are the official nominees. Kitty will be up against three other nominees – Reepicheep from The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, Dobby from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and Kreacher from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The 9th Annual VES Awards will take place on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel and will air exclusively on REELZCHANNEL Saturday, February 19, 2011 at 10p ET/PT with encore presentations throughout February.
